Cricket betting at bw52 — bet on all formats from T20 to Test
Popular markets for BPL, IPL and international cricket, live betting, and a straightforward guide to understanding odds — all in one place.
Cricket's three formats and major tournaments
The three main cricket formats are T20, ODI and Test. Each format plays differently, so the betting markets also work differently.
T20: The fastest format. Only 20 overs per innings — results can turn around suddenly. BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) and IPL are played in this format and are the most popular among Bangladeshi fans. Many also follow the betting markets alongside watching the Tigers play in the T20 World Cup.
ODI: Strategy matters more in a 50-over match. ICC tournaments and bilateral series are played in this format. Mid-match odds tend to be more stable.
Test: A five-day match — three outcomes are possible: draw, win or loss. Markets here are more varied — innings scores, session results, batsman milestones.
At bw52, alongside these three formats, markets are also available for football, tennis and other sports. If you are interested in sports betting as well as casino games, you can check out the full game range at bw52 Casino.
Football and other sports — how they differ from cricket
After cricket, football is the second most popular sport in Bangladesh. Football betting markets are somewhat different — a match can have three outcomes: home win, away win and draw. In T20 or ODI cricket there is no draw, so odds are generally split between the two teams.
Football offers betting on number of goals (over/under), corner kicks, card markets and more. The cricket equivalents are runs, wickets and over-based markets. Tennis and kabaddi also have their own distinct market structures.
One thing all sports have in common is live betting. Odds change constantly while a match is in progress, which makes betting more dynamic. With multi bets, it is also possible to place bets on multiple sports at the same time via bw52 Bet's sportsbook.
7 popular markets in bw52 cricket
A quick look at how each market works.
Match Winner
The simplest market — bet on which team will win the match. In T20 or ODI there are two options: Team A or Team B. In Test, a draw is also an option.
All FormatsToss Winner
Bet on who wins the toss before the match starts. The result is completely random, so both teams' odds are usually about equal.
Pre-MatchTop Batsman
Bet on which batsman will score the most runs. The highest scorer within the team is selected.
Innings BettingTotal Runs Over/Under
Bet on whether the total runs will be more or less than a set number. For example: whether a T20 innings will exceed 160 runs.
T20 and ODITop Bowler
Bet on which bowler will take the most wickets. Pace bowler vs spinner — the result depends on the nature of the pitch.
Wicket MarketMulti Bet
Multiple bets are combined into one. All selections must win — but the potential return is much higher.
CombinationHandicap Betting
The weaker team is given a notional run advantage, which brings the two teams' odds closer together. The stronger team must also cover that extra margin.
CompetitiveDecimal, fractional and American — three types of odds
The same odds can be written in three different ways. bw52 generally uses the decimal format, but understanding all three makes it easy to navigate any site.
Example 1 — three ways to show the same price
Team A to win — stake ৳200.
Decimal 2.50 = Fractional 3/2 = American +150
If the bet wins: ৳500 returned (৳300 profit + ৳200 stake).
If the bet loses: you lose ৳200.
Example 2 — odds for the favourite
Team B to win (favourite) — stake ৳200.
Decimal 1.50 = Fractional 1/2 = American -200
American minus odds show how much you need to stake to win 100.
On a ৳200 stake, return is ৳300 (৳100 profit).
Decimal odds are straightforward — multiply the number by your stake to get the total return. Fractional odds are more common in the British market. In American odds, plus (+) means underdog and minus (−) means favourite.
Limited-overs match winner
Limited-overs match in decimal odds
Team A: 1.65 | Team B: 2.30
Place a ৳500 bet on Team B — if Team B wins you get back ৳1,150 (৳650 profit). If Team A wins you lose ৳500.
There is no draw in limited-overs cricket, so odds are split between the two teams.
Multi Bet Example
3 bets: 1.50 × 1.70 × 1.90
Combined odds = 4.84 (approx.)
৳100 stake returns ৳484 — but all three bets must win. If even one loses, the entire ৳100 is gone.
As wickets fall and overs change, odds change too
In-play or live betting means placing bets while the match is in progress. In cricket, odds are recalculated after every ball, every wicket and every over.
Say Team A bats first and is at 80 runs for 2 wickets after 10 overs. In this position, Team A's odds of winning will be quite low. But if 3 wickets fall in the next over, the odds will flip quickly. In the live market, this change happens instantly.
Live betting is most dynamic in T20 — the final 5 overs can completely change the result. In ODI, session-based markets are more stable. In Test matches, odds shift with pitch conditions.
One thing to keep in mind with in-play betting — odds move very fast, so there is less time to decide. It is easy to bet live on mobile via the bw52 App.
- Compare live odds with pre-match odds — if you see a big difference, try to understand why.
- More runs tend to come in the powerplay overs — over/under markets during this period can offer interesting odds.
- Big shots are more common in the death overs (last 5 overs) — odds in the live market move quickly at this stage.
Practical advice for cricket betting
Enjoy betting as entertainment — these are not winning strategies, but reminders to stay aware.
- Understand the format first: T20, ODI and Test have different rules — know clearly which format you are betting on. The toss market has roughly equal probability in all formats.
- Set a budget: Decide how much you will bet before each session. Never spend more than your total budget.
- Focus on one market: Start with the match winner or total runs market. Trying to follow too many markets at once can be difficult.
- Be careful with multi bets: Even though the return on a multi bet looks high, losing one selection means losing it all. When starting out, it is better not to include more than 2–3 selections.
- No rushing in live betting: In-play markets put pressure on quick decisions — bet based on what you see, not on impulse.
- Read the rules: Knowing the betting terms and conditions is important — especially what happens if a multi bet is voided. Read bw52's terms and conditions.
- Betting is entertainment: No bet comes with a guarantee — it is entertainment. After a loss, avoid placing more bets to try to recover.
